Dear NOP Parents,
The Nerds of Prey Robotics team is headed to the Orlando Florida FIRST Robotics
Competition. All members in good standing are required to attend this event as outlined in
the course syllabus. Your student(s) will have until Monday February 28th,to submit
their competition fee of $60. We will be using a charter bus to transport students and
chaperones to and from the event. Students are required to ride the bus. Chaperones
riding the bus with the team are free. Field trip permission forms will be sent home this
week. Students will be excused from school on 3/10/22. Friday is a teacher workday.
If your student does not model the HAWKS creed, has poor attendance, or failing grades,
they will be unable to attend the competition and you WILL NOT be given a refund. This
includes their conduct during school hours as well as during the event.
The Orlando Regional competition will be held at the UCF Arena from Thursday March
10th through Saturday, March 12th, 2022. Each day we will meet at the school’s bus loop
at 6:00 a.m. as we plan to leave on the bus at 6:15 a.m. We should be back the first two
days around 8 p.m. On Saturday we will return at around 10 p.m. I will encourage students
to contact you as we are approaching in order to facilitate a speedy pickup.
Students will be provided with lunch each day. I encourage students to eat before they
leave the house and have a small amount of money on hand in case they need additional
food upon arrival or before departure. Parents who are able to chaperone and/or assist
with lunch distribution please contact Mr. Nash.
Required Dress Code: Thursday: Team cotton t shirt with jeans and closed toe shoes.
Friday and Saturday: Team Polo shirt with black pants and black sneakers. Belt for boys
suggested because they will be tucking in their polo shirts. No jackets or hoodies inside.
I have purchased some additional cotton team shirts which will be available for purchase
for $20 cash while supplies last. Any parents interested in purchasing one for themselves
or an extra for their student should let me know. I have sizes S, M, and a few XL.
